Welcome to the first issue of Volume 34 of the Medium. This issue features a session report on the Denver ARLIS/NA conference and a collection profile on the Visual Resources Center at Texas State University-San Marcos. There is also an update on news from the Dallas Arts district, the Dallas Public Library, the Menil Collection, the name change at the Wittliff Collections at Texas State University-San Marcos and the reorganization at the Architecture and Planning Library at UT-Austin. Elizabeth Schaub submitted the ARLIS/NA South Regional report. The annual report submitted by current president Selene Hinojosa is also in this issue. There are reports on other meetings including the VRA conference and the Association of Architecture School Librarians conference.

Web Site Technical Liaison

Earlier this year, Mark Pompelia contacted me to act as "technical liaison" for the chapter's Web site. This request came shortly after his discovery that the site was not allowing folk to log in and add/edit content. I acquiesced and begin the process of figuring out the culprit that was causing the problem. We're actually running an older version of Drupal, and I suspect that our host's recent upgrade of the PHP scripting language created an incompatibility with some of our Drupal PHP code. After a lot of hunting, I found a patch which fixed the problem. So we're back in business. This recent problem does highlight our need to begin thinking about a plan to upgrade to the most recent version of Drupal, otherwise we risk similar problems cropping up in the future.

For now, I remain, fondly, your "technical liaison." I also have newly rejoined the chapter and ARLIS/NA, so I am officially back in the fold.

Welcome to the official Web site of the Texas-Mexico Chapter of the Art Libraries Society of North America. As we strengthen our ties with art information professionals south of the border, we face new and exciting challenges.

Like its parent organization, the Texas-Mexico Chapter serves as a support organization for art information specialists, including librarians and visual resources curators. And as a regional chapter, it provides a local voice for ARLIS/NA members in Texas and Mexico. To find out more about the Chapter's goals, please take a look at our mission statement.

Our Web site is an important communication tool for the Chapter. Within the site you will find information regarding membership, annual meetings, and art resources. You will also find current and back issues of our newsletter, The Medium.

We are always looking for ways to make the chapter and its membership even better. If you have ideas regarding the growth of our chapter, please contact me.
