A Trip Through Denver Parks and Neighborhoods

A Trip Through Denver Parks and Neighborhoods
Friday, May 2, 2008

Guide Carolyn Etter, a former co-manager of the Denver Parks and Recreation Department, was an expert guide for this trip.

Let me first explain “co-manager.” Mrs. Etter had experience in non-profit and charitable managing. Her husband, Don Etter, had just retired from law practice. While reading the Denver Post once morning she said to her husband, “Wouldn’t it be fun for us to co-manager the Parks and Recreation Department?” A few phone calls later the newly elected Mayor Frederico Pena, later head of the Department of Transportation in the Clinton administration, made a dual appointment of this couple to head the department. They were among the highest executives in the country to have this arrangement.

Sheryl Wilhite Garcia received the RLG Travel Award for a first-time conference attendee from North America. She reports:

I was very happy to receive the award, which allowed me to meet and speak with colleagues from Art Libraries and Visual Resources Collections. I kept fairly busy with meetings and sessions.
2000 ARLIS/NA Annual Conference Reports

The Technology Committee

The Technology Committee set as the following goals for the upcoming year:

Provide web site access to technology vendors and product information for products purchased in current calendar year using a form for members to complete data online. This will allow ARLIS/NA members to post vendor names and reviews for various products to a website which others can access for latest information on hardware and software when contemplating a purchase.

Provide web site access to documents and images of interest to membership. Examples might be filing schemes and other operational and technical concerns.
